Be comfortable allowing what people do to overrule what they say.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Confucius said, "There was a time when I merely listened attentively to what people said, and took for granted that they would carry out their words. Now I am obliged not only to give ear to what they say, but also to keep an eye on what they do."

Believe what they do, not what they say...remember you are biased...and don't gauge them too harshly...after all, they are only human.

"Prediction is very difficult, especially if it's about the future." [a quote, far from Yogi Berra and Mark Twain]

While those words could have come from the lips of Yogi Berra or Mark Twain, they did not.

It is a quote from the Danish Physicist, Niels Bohr (1885-1962). Bohr had a terrific personality and [it seems] sense of humour.

And, of course, he was a deep thinker. Here is another example: The opposite of a fact is falsehood, but the opposite of one profound truth may very well be another profound truth.

When tempted by worries...think of this Niels Bohr quote.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. [an old saying, containing wisdom of the ages]

Q: But how?

A: Thinking ahead, as in planning & risk management. Seek out problems in advance...as a matter of good habit.

***

The 21st Century - never has risk management been such a vital planning function and [with small-to-big data] never has risk management been such an intriguing planning function.

If you do not know your limitations then your willpower won't.

"A man's got to know his limitations." Clint Eastwood said that when he played Dirty Harry in 'Magnum Force', (1973).

If you know yourself and you know your limitations then you have a fighting chance to know when you will need willpower. If you do not know your limitations then your willpower won't.

Ancient communication wisdom: "Men trust their ears less than their eyes."

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

"Men trust their ears less than their eyes."

Herodotus

Greek Historian, 484BCE-425BCE

Now, 2400 years after Herodotus, psychologists are completing experiments that confirm Herodotus' ancient wisdom...our eyes overrule our ears...truly, we do believe what our eyes see them do more than what our ears hear them say. This applies to their major actions and to their minor body-language signals.
