The Thinking Behind The Tweet

When you fully engage your Talents & Strengths things happen with relative ease...and success follows.

Communication tip: If you want people to buy into your ideas then you must 'pre-communicate'…and over-communicate.

The Thinking Behind the Tweet

  1. Experts have been studying people connections, networks, and hubs for over 40 years. Experts concluded weak links, including the most casual interactions with people we only know briefly or through friends-of-friends, often provide the greatest rewards, including access to innovation
  2. Far too many businesses operate like sheep following the herd in their business sector. Even casual connections with people outside your business sector can open doors to tremendous innovations.

In days of old, fear made us fit and functional. Now, with many options as close as our remote, we rarely allow that.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Fear is the part of the human condition that provides us a fighting [or flighting] chance to survive. In tougher-times-of-old, fear-triggered physiological changes pumped blood to our arms so we could fight and to our legs so we could run.

Now...

Rather than fight we take out our aggression on a big bowl of popcorn while watching GSP doing MMA on PPV.

And, rather than run we calm our troubled minds by watching Honey Boo Boo reruns.

Now, more often than not, fear bypasses our arm and leg muscles and finds its way to our bellies and hips.

If we had not learned the word "No" so well when we were young, we would spend a lot less time ruminating about our mistakes.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

When we were young a lot of people started to say "No" to us. We were made to believe it was wrong to say and do certain things....many things. The rules of "No" versus "Yes" were inconsistent, depending on who was saying them and where all of us were when they were being said. Regardless, when we were instructed "No" we received the message we were doing something wrong...i.e., making a mistake. We heard "No" so many times when we were young we still ruminate about our mistakes, sometimes even the mistakes we made when we were young.

We should shake that off.

The greatest leaders overcome their bad habits. They mould their character to improve their ability to influence others.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Sometimes they replace combative ways with kindness; sometimes they replace softer ways with assertiveness.

Other times they improve their voice, vocabulary, and body language to improve their communication style...adding clarity and power to it.

Great leaders are attuned to their habits, both the good ones and the bad ones. They choose to replace their bad habits with new things - adding good habits, habits proven to deliver positive results.

Beyond everything else, the greatest leaders are masters of self-awareness and self-control.

And they know leadership is an ongoing series of thought-and-action choices. So they define thought-and-action boundaries for themselves and they work continuously at living within those thought-and-action boundaries.

It's your choice - be organized or be too busy.
