Thought Tweet #772.5

Thought Tweet #772.5 The U.S high school system has the lowest rating of G8 countries - on the bright side: they got Duck Dynasty.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Most business people spend more time watching 'Reality TV' than they spend educating themselves on how to do better business. This phenomenon is not limited to the U.S.A....it applies in Canada as well.

Rick,

Who's to blame here?

Content providers merely produce what the public wants to consume.

Also, U.S might have the lowest rating for high school systems across G8 countries. But, they are one of the most innovative countries on earth. They possess an ability to launch economies of scale and an ability to get our of the worst kinds of crisis relatively quickly.

What is Canada doing on the innovation front? Where is all this useful and well backed research headed? Why can't we launch economies of scale? Why can't we also sustain dozens upon dozens of Billion dollar ventures?  How can the Americans harness dissent so effectively and turn that into innovation for the marketplace.

Food for thought.

P.s: Duck dynasty is a pretty awesome show!

Adeel,

You are right - the U.S. offers many positive contributions.

You are right - Canada needs to pull up its innovation socks. We can put our minds to that one.

PS: I am noticing - my anti-Reality TV Show comments sure annoy some folks.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Rick

Rick,

I concur. And that sounds like a very decent and objective plan.

Re: Reality TV. Actually, I'm with you. Media is doing a pretty remarkable job in dumbing down the population. Reality TV shows are a tiny part of that.

I guess duck dynasty is an exception to the rule. Its funny and its showcasing entrepreneurs. Win/win?

Yes Adeel.

The advertisers - and perhaps the TV advertisers are better at it than most advertisers -  are masters of psychology, knowing the right buttons to press to appeal to the worst of our bad habits.
