The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Even the great Ralph Waldo Emerson needed that sort of help. Emerson said, "What I most need is somebody to make me do what I can."

People Only Do 3 Things: Good HabitsBad Habits, & New Things

When we want to develop better habits we need an injection of accountability; we benefit when someone or something makes us do what we can.

Accountability arrived before Responsibility

by Rick Baker
On Jul 15, 2014

Accountability arrived before Responsibility...at least the on-line Merriam-Webster dictionary says that...the word Accountability joined the English language in 1770 and the word Responsibility arrived the following year.

Isn't that counter-intuitive?

Also, according to Merriam-Webster

Definition of ACCOUNTABILITY

:  the quality or state of being accountable; especially :  an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one's actions

First known use 1770

and

Definition of RESPONSIBILITY

: the state of being the person who caused something to happen

: a duty or task that you are required or expected to do

First known use 1771

In the Merriam-Webster on-line dictionary we see Accountability defined in terms of 'accepting responsibility' and 'accounting for one's actions' and Responsibility defined in terms of 'a duty you are expected to do'.

In business, Accountability is what we want.

In business we want people who accept responsibility for performing duties and understand the importance of accounting for their actions. When our businesses employ those sort of people we can rely on them to perform. And we can rely on them to let us know when they are having difficulties.

It's the communication implicit in accountability that caused it to arrive before responsibility.

Personal Organization - today, every 30 minutes, stop what you are doing to check and take note of your mood.

The Thinking Behind the Tweet

Most people spend time thinking about “To Do” lists and personal organization. They do things to ensure they are organized: take courses, keep a calendar, use CRM systems, etc. However, most people do not keep tabs on their moods, emotions, & feelings. Since moods have a strong impact on our behaviour and performance, it makes sense to do a mood-self-check. Doing it every 30 minutes for one day is a way to begin to create this Good Habit

The Law of Attraction...for unbelievers

by Rick Baker
On Jul 14, 2014

When you have a positive mindset you tend to see the positive things in situations and people.

When you are upbeat and enthusiastic about the future you tend to see the positive things in situations and people.

And upbeat, positive, and enthusiastic people tend to attract people who hold similar mindsets.

When brought together in a spirit of harmony upbeat, positive, and enthusiastic people tend to energize one another.

With high energy levels and positive mindsets groups of people are able to perform large volumes of goal-focused actions.

Naturally, all of these things combine to promote success and the achievement of goals.

With thoughts like those outlined above it is relatively easy to come to the conclusion that positive mental attitudes, reflecting belief in the abilities of people, can lead to better handling of a range of situations. With these mindsets situations can be handled well, in real time as they arise. Seeing people in a positive light and handling situations well are the proven ways to achieve goals and obtain success.

That is one way to look at the Law of Attraction.

I recognize this is a limited way of thinking about the Law of Attraction. I recognize there are far-expanded versions of the Law of Attraction that take people deep into the realm of metaphysics and cosmic thought.

The Law of Attraction does not have to be metaphysical. It can be thought of in common-sense terms.  It can be thought of in practical terms. It can be thought of in simple terms.

In simple terms, the Law of Attraction is - Like Attracts Like.

Positivity attracts positivity. Success-orientation attracts success-orientation. With these common-sense facts of life in mind, it is easy to understand how we tend to get what we wish for when that wishing is done with a mindset laced in enthusiasm and positive energy.

We do not have to enter the territory of metaphysical zealots to believe in the Law of Attraction.

We just have to step back and use a little common sense.
