We simply must spend more time imagining Possibilities..."Think of things - not as they are but as they might be."

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Robert Collier wrote, "Think of things - not as they are but as they MIGHT be." ...'The SECRET Of The Ages', (1926)

If we follow Robert Collier's advice then we will get beyond our personal biases, especially our tendency to judge others harshly. And, we will create.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

"A person with clear purpose will make progress even on the roughest road. A person with no purpose will make no progress even on the smoothest road."

Thomas Carlyle, Scottish philosopher (1795-1881)

***

When I think about this I wonder if it would be better said - A person with clear purpose makes progress despite the roughness of the road.

Then I wonder if it should be - A person with clear purpose will make progress because of the roughness of the road.

And...

The smoother the road the less likely you will reach your long-term destination.

The smoother the road the less likely you will know or achieve your long-term purpose.

And finally...friends...

Let's not stumble along purposeless roads...let's construct better paths.

Don't let a few bad apples sour your trust in people.

Without trust relationships are shallow and weak.

Don't let people's actions sour your trust.

Start With Self. On top of all the self-things I have written over the years, I'm adding self-trust.

We judge others by their actions; we judge ourselves by our intentions. We blame situations for our failures: we blame other people for their failures. We give credit to ourselves when we succeed: we give credit to their situations when other people succeed. (Attribution Bias)

Those are our tendencies.

Let's not allow those tendencies to draw too much of our attention to the bad apples.

Self-discipline brings out the value embedded in talent.

When discipline is absent Talent is dormant, submerged, and wasted.

That's why discipline is a good thing.

Discipline serves a key role when success is in action.

Lack of confidence is evident when people talk too much during good times then talk too little during bad times.

This is especially true when the talk is about credit and blame for results.

...better to aim closer to the Zen, "Is that so".

May your molehills remain molehills and may your ego choose molehills over mountain climbing.

Better to climb mountains in your mind than on the back of your donkey-ego.
