Sales Tweets #283

by Rick Baker
On Aug 17, 2011
Sales Tweet #283 Develop ‘pet names’ and ‘pet sayings’ to remind your Sales people… “Size Does Matter”.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Sometimes Sales people focus on wee pieces of low-hanging fruit. That can happen when it is easy to sign up wee pieces...so they do it…even if your business cannot afford to serve those wee clients. Maybe you need some strategies and sayings to address this problem? For example: “Well that's a really good start: you’ve picked up a nice little blip on the radar screen…”

Sales Tweet #281

by Rick Baker
On Aug 15, 2011
Sales Tweet #281 English proverb: If two ride a horse, one must ride behind.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
But, “If the world were a logical place, men would ride side-saddle.” [Rita Mae Brown]…in which case, “If two ride a horse, they are side-by-side.” But…maybe that’s only from the rider’s perspective…or riders’ perspectives. The horse and most outsiders would agree…”If two ride a horse, one must ride behind.” Remember that when you are a boss, a subordinate or a partner in business.

Sales Tweet #239 When selling: Don't be redundant. Don’t say more than required or be excessive. Don’t be superfluous.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Some sales people have this habit of talking too much. They go on and on. They provide a plethora of information when that’s not needed. They overkill things. They flog dead horses. They go overboard. They provide a surplus of facts. That’s not the right way to go about selling. That’s the wrong way to go about selling. It doesn’t work. It fails. It won’t get the results you desire. It’s a flawed approach…incorrect…

Sales Tweet #186

Sales Tweet #186 A salesperson without enthusiasm will be, at best, an order taker.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
A Baker of sales would say, "Enthusiasm is the ingredient that causes sales to rise". Which reminds me…you know why Bakers tend to succeed at selling?...because they sell what is kneaded.

Sales Tweet #174

by Rick Baker
On Mar 17, 2011
Sales Tweet #174 Do you sometimes act like a 6-yr-old soccer player, focusing on the ball instead of the goal?

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Not a bad metaphor. While it is a joy to watch those little players do that in sports games it is no where near as enjoyable watching sales people do it. Just ask a sales manager.
