Thought Tweet #906

by Rick Baker
On Jan 6, 2014

Thought Tweet #906 Leaders inspire people; managers discipline processes; leaders construct situations; managers perform in situations.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Leaders inspire people and influence actions to grow value.

Managers design details and ensure they are performed.

Leaders inspire people, inspire good process, and anticipate, construct & excel in specific situations.

Business Contains Only 3 Things: People, Process, & Situations.

Thought Tweet #905 What do you do that other people won't do? [inspired by The Art of Asking Good Questions]

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

'When the going gets tough, the tough get going.'

'Going the extra mile.'

'It's a dirty job but someone has to do it.'

But...

What is it that you do that other people refuse to do?

What's your exclusive territory?

What are you doing when you are standing alone?

When you 'do it' what does 'it' tell other people about you?

When you 'do it' what does 'it' tell you about yourself?

Thought Tweet #904 Your brand starts with your character and the culture you breed: your brand stalls or flourishes there.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

A brand isn't a cute visual.

A brand isn't a catchy logo or a slick tag line.

A brand cannot pretty up a flawed character or a troubling culture.

When testing new branding, take a step back and look at your personal character and your business culture. Do they pass the litmus test? Do they render an investment in 'branding' worthwhile? Or, do they neuter your branding expenditures?

Thought Tweet #903

Thought Tweet #903 Conflicted thoughts have awesome power. Unfortunately, the power does more damage than good.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Confusion: that's a light sampling of conflicted thought.

Torn between 2...that's a heavier sampling.

Confounded: that can be bloody annoying.

Conflicted thoughts are the roots of frustration.

Frustration gets you nowhere & getting nowhere is frustrating: a vicious circle or downward spiral.

At least when we are angry we are more certain about our thoughts. This is why anger is better than frustration.

Thought Tweet #903 Picture this: the leader in you is stepping beyond one of your Bad Habits

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Let the leader in you take your next step.

Let the leader in you step over top of your bad habits.

Show people you possess that power of will.

Show people you possess that leadership.

Show people a role model they can be inspired to emulate.

Step over your bad habits...pass it on.

Thought Tweet #902

Thought Tweet #902 Maybe I mis-heard...did you say every fundamentalist should be burned at the stake?

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

The other day a friend expressed strong concerns about fundamentalists and the damages they are causing in the world today.

Hoist them on their own petards was the gist of the 'good-start' I heard.
