Thought Tweet #789

Thought Tweet #789 When it comes to people, each of us has some home-made putty to deal with: we can start with self.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Business is about people, process, and situations. People create the process and people create most of the situations.

So, when you boil it down business is about people.

We all know that.

And, we all forget it…at least from time to time each of us forgets it.

When it comes to people, each of us has some home-made putty to deal with: we can start with self. How can we expect to have any success leading other people if we cannot develop skill at leading self?

Napoleon Bonaparte had it right when he said, “If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self”. When we understand self we have a chance to guide self to better places. When we understand self we have a chance to increase our good habits and reduce our bad habits. When we understand self we have confidence and we are better-able to tackle new things. This is what Napoleon taught when he said, “conquer self”.

Thought Tweet #788.5 Delegation is like walking a tightrope: a slip-up can bring you down and failure to step gets you nowhere.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Take Delegation seriously. It is really important to do it and to allow yourself and your people to learn from errors.

Thought Tweet #788

Thought Tweet #788 One of our goals is: to help business leaders feel even better.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

When leaders feel better they perform better. When leaders perform better performance will be contagious. Business will become ‘better’ and more profitable. If performed properly and with the right spirit this chain reaction circles back on itself: more profitability raises the leader's score…and the business-success process snowballs

Thought Tweet #787.5

Thought Tweet #787.5 You don't see yourself the way others see you. Need proof? Look in a mirror. See - you already got it backwards.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

When we invented mirrors we invented a useful tool...they allow us to check out our hair and fix our make-up before we leave the house in the morning. When you time a bit of time to think about it...isn't it a little annoying that when we get those things right we also get them backwards. The other 7,000,000,000 or so see us the exact opposite way.

Thought Tweet #787

Thought Tweet #787 If you want to see bigger pictures, first learn bigger frames.

The Thought Behind The Tweet

Lots of business people talk about Vision. Some argue it is the essence of leadership.

'Seeing the Big Picture' - you have heard that expression.

But - what about big frames?

Who talks about the value inherent in big frames?

Open your mind to bigger frames.

Look at bigger frames from different perspectives.

Understand - Value rarely exists in bigger pictures which have not been captured by bigger frames.

Put another way - sure, [even though I have a pet peeve about the phrase] go ahead and think out of the box...just make sure your big pictures are framed big.

If you want to see bigger pictures, first learn bigger frames.

Thought Tweet #786.5 When you solve a problem at your workplace check to see if the solution could help your clients' businesses.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

...and your suppliers' businesses...and your allies' businesses.

Spread good solutions. Spread better and best practices.

Challenge your leadership team to understand what it means to be best-in-class or better.

Be bold. Be confident your thinking is creating top-quality solutions. Share your solutions and be open to feedback that helps you improve on your solutions. Share your solutions with business peers...exchange ideas and improvements.
