Thought Tweet #800.5

Thought Tweet #800.5 Self-confidence is the magnetic recipe that attracts the things you need most to succeed in business.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

You just need to know how to blend the ingredients together...your ingredients and other people`s ingredients.

If you know how to blend them together, great.

If you don`t know how to blend them together, learn.

Confidence is Valued by Spirited Leaders.

Thought Tweet #800

by Rick Baker
On Aug 9, 2013

Thought Tweet #800 Authentic Self-confidence, properly illustrated and linked to Vision: this is at the essence of leadership.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

It takes various forms, as examples:

  • Alexander the Great did it his way…on the backs of horses leading the charge
  • Mahatma Gandhi did it his way…on the consciences of his nation’s oppressors
  • Richard Branson does it his way…on the dreams in achievers’ hearts

Confidence is a magical state of mind; Confidence is a much-valued state of mind.

When your confidence meter is properly set your opportunity to succeed in business is amplified, often many times over. Self-confidence, near the upper end of reasonable bounds, is the magnetic recipe that attracts the things you need most to succeed in business: the co-operation and enthusiasm residing in yourself and in other people.

Thought Tweet #799.5

by Rick Baker
On Aug 8, 2013

Thought Tweet #799.5 Delegation, decisiveness, and discipline. Blend them. Have a great business. (Yes, call me "old-fashioned".)

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

It's a matter of choice. We can have good delegation, good decisions, good discipline, and great business. Or we can not.

This isn't about sparing the rod and spoiling the child

This isn't about crushing creativity.

This isn't about favouring sticks over carrots.

This is about Seeking Simple.

This is about common sense.

Thought Tweet #799 Suggestions for Leaders: How to make sure your confidence does not threaten your followers.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Some followers are intimidated by Leader's self-confidence. Here are some Spirited suggestions, to make sure you do not come across that way:

  • Be authentic…it is OK to be on the reserved side of centre if that is your character…it is OK to be on the boisterous side if that is your character
  • Be committed to working on self-improvement…i.e., raising his or her own self-confidence when that is required, as it will be from time to time
  • Focus on strengths: personal strengths and the strengths possessed by others
  • As Dale Carnegie taught, Praise heartily
  • Make full and appropriate use of humour…some leaders have just a little of it and will need to remind themselves of the importance of putting it to good use…other leaders have heavy doses of it and they will need to remind themselves to never let it go too far…self-humour is best…humour at the expense of others is an absolute no-no
  • Listen…resurrect that art if it has become lost
  • Master your emotions…and keep them under control [most of the time]
  • Live with Integrity…as defined here

Thought Tweet #798.5 Get present, Stay present. Be present on paper. (A salute to My Journal)

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

When I write stuff in My Journal I find it helps me focus and concentrate...and remember.

My Journal helps me be present. Some take 'being present' for granted. I do not. And, I see other people who shouldn't.

My Journal helps me stay present...it's a tool for focus and concentration.

My Journal: something I can use excessively and feel good about it.

[...and, did I mention...My Journal helps me remember things?]

PS: My Journal is a web-based tool, created for me by my son and partner, Jack.
