Plan to repeat, repeat, repeat...that's one key to teaching, inspiring, & influencing people.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."

Benjamin Franklin

When we observe repetition, we learn.

When we repeat, others have the opportunity to learn.

No means No! (...well maybe we need to think a bit more on that!)

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

When I was a kid I heard the word "No" so much I expected to hear it, as a matter of habit.

When I was a kid I was told to say "Yes" so much I started to say it, as a matter for habit.

I've been spending time throughout the rest of my life figuring out how to respond "No" when my little internal voice automatically prompts me to say "Yes" when I really wish I was saying "No".

If you want to influence others, communicate your interests before making requests.

Invest the time it takes to understand people. Understanding provides for trust, motivation, & leadership.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

In part, inspired by a re-reading of Michael Gerber's 'The E-Myth Revisited'. Pick a demographic - learn its psychographics - and don't forget, we're dealing with people...not statistics.

Of course, there's a softer side and a more-important justification. Only when we understand others are we able to help them. [Without such understanding we ramble along, at best, half-helping ourselves.]

Communication band-aids don't solve the discomfort of negative thinking.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Shape up, Man, you gotta improve your attitude!

Great advice in theory - useless advice in reality.

If you want to help people with negative thinking, think first about your own attitude, thoughts and action then learn how to improve by replacing negative thinking with new thoughts.

If we just had some clone spray then we could all communicate better.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Expanding on the good work of Thought Tweet #718...

When people don't 'get us' [or 'get it'] we could clone-spray them. Then we would not have to waste a bunch of time repeating and repeating ourselves until they finally understand us. We wouldn't have to raise our voices to help them think more clearly. Similarly, they could clone spray us before they tried to tell us stuff...and we would finally be able to understand what they keep repeating.

That's So Obvious!

Wait a second. There could be some complications...some contraindications...nasty side-effects. We could end up with Wild-West style shootouts where the fastest draw becomes the winner of every communication. Or, sneak-up-and-spray pre-emptive strikes. And what about hired gun clone-sprayers.

Damn...maybe clone spray isn't such a good idea after all.
