If you think you are too busy then you are thinking wrong.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

I favour abundance thinking over scarcity mindsets.

If I decide I think "I'm too busy" then I have selected a scarcity mindset with respect to time, the most-precious commodity...or darned close to it.

So - I must not think "I'm too busy."

And - I must leave "I'm too busy" to the people who choose to embrace those scarcity mindsets.

Some things are urgent; some things are important: very few things are both urgent and important.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

The vast majority of important things are not urgent and so they can be postponed. And, quite a bit of the time, that's exactly what we do.

When important things are postpones their true priority can be obscured and forgotten. And, quite a bit of the time, that's exactly what happens.

  • Napoleon Hill taught "Plan the Work and Work the Plan".
  • Stephen R. Covey taught the way to sort out tasks/timing into Importance/Urgency quadrants.
  • Pareto taught the "80/20 Rule".

With these three tools, we have what we need.

Now, it's up to us to use them.

Invest the time it takes to understand people. Understanding provides for trust, motivation, & leadership.

In part, inspired by a re-reading of Michael Gerber's 'The E-Myth Revisited'. Pick a demographic - learn its psychographics - and don't forget, we're dealing with people...not statistics.

Of course, there's a softer side and a more-important justification. Only when we understand others are we able to help them. [Without such understanding we ramble along, at best, half-helping ourselves.]

If today you can't find time to do things right then tomorrow you will find time to do them again.

Have you ever noticed - the people who complain the loudest about having no time tend to spend far more time than others spend fixing errors and redoing work?

A person who chases two rabbits is 'too busy' to catch either.

Playing with the ancient wisdom of Confucius...“He who chases two rabbits, captures neither.”

You don't have to chase two rabbits to be too busy. There's plenty of other ways to multi-task your way into feeling then complaining about being too busy.

Disorganized people are too busy because they repeat their problems and their tasks.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Disorganized people make more errors, cause more distractions, and tend to annoy more-organized people.

Disorganized people are work expanders.

Disorganized people are work repeaters.

Disorganized people think they are too busy....they blame Time when the real culprit is their personal disorganization/mayhem.
