Thought Tweet #895

by Rick Baker
On Dec 20, 2013

Thought Tweet #895 Climb out of a rut & step into the groove.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Wherever you are you are making a stance and making a statement.

Might as well not make your statements from a rut.

Better to take your stances and make your statements while in the groove.

Note to self: Anyone can complain about his or her situation and many do...regularly. Picture them. They are up to their armpits in ruts. Probably, somewhere deep down in those ruts they'd rather be in the groove. Don't just look at them groping frantically and bumping off the walls of their ruts. Extend a hand. Maybe you can help them out.

Thought Tweet #890

by Rick Baker
On Dec 13, 2013

Thought Tweet #890 Bad behaviour drains us. Interpersonal dysfunction eats up positive energy. [So, put a stop to it.]

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Dysfunctional interactions de-energize. They wound spirit, sometimes fatally.

We have choices. We can choose to participate in bad behaviour. We can choose to not participate in bad behaviour. We can choose to stand by and watch others participate in bad behaviour. We can choose to step up and help others not participate in bad behaviour.

Why do people resist change?

by Rick Baker
On Dec 9, 2013

Attitude has a direct impact on success.

Communication has a direct impact on success.

So, attitude and communication together play a major role when it comes to achieving success.

That said, why is it so many people place so little emphasis on improving their attitudes or their communication?

Are people oblivious to the need for change?

Are people too lazy to change?

Do they feel too busy to change?

Do people not believe they can change?

Do people feel doomed to repeat the same errors?

Do people think it's others, not themselves, who must change?

Do people not know how to change?

Do people derive some sort of pleasure or comfort from the status quo?

"For time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future."

John F. Kennedy

Thought Tweet #884 There's a reason the words confidence and competence have a similar ring to them.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

We see these two walking hand in hand.

We watch them promote one another.

When they are separated we observe signs of distress.

Thought Tweet #881

by Rick Baker
On Dec 2, 2013

Thought Tweet #881 My friend Ron…“Every day I wake knowing I have 2 choices – to be positive or to be negative. I choose to be positive.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

We can learn from our friends. The keys are (1) to be observant and (2) to ask questions. For example, if you observe someone who seems to have a much more positive mental attitude than the average person be curious...be inquisitive. Ask about it. Ask Why? and ask How?

Some folks are born optimists with natural tendencies towards having a positive attitude and world-outlook.

Some folks work at being positive....making a choice...sometimes every morning when they wake.

Some folks do both.

These folks stand out...magnetizing...inspiring...leading.

Thought Tweet #874 So you have a mind like a steel trap do you…then you will know intelligent life forms choose to avoid traps.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Illustrations of mental prowess can put people off....especially when performed by braggarts and wiseacres.
