The Awesome Power of Procrastination

by Rick Baker
On Apr 11, 2014

The Awesome Power of Procrastination: without it small amounts of short-term gain would never out-muscle the much larger long-term gain. And, avoiding small amounts of short-term pain would never out-muscle avoiding the much larger long-term pain.

Procrastination is the great equalizer: it gives immediate needs the ability to defy our important goals and our common sense.

Thought Tweet #971 Doing Work: for most people, working & creating a thing brings more satisfaction than receiving that thing without effort.

Assaulting Self-Esteem

by Rick Baker
On Mar 31, 2014

When we assault self-esteem it either fights back or shrinks away. When it fights back much energy is wasted cleaning up the relationship damage. When it shrinks away it is either lost or its return is so elusive much energy is spent recapturing it.  Either way, an assault on self-esteem is guaranteed to eat up energy...just to get back to the way things were before the assault. Gives us a couple of choices...Choosing not to assault self-esteem and conserving our energy for other actions...Choosing to assault self-esteem and destine ourselves to wasting energy.

The better choice seems clear enough.

Thought Tweet #944

by Rick Baker
On Feb 27, 2014

Thought Tweet #944 We are selflings: that's got to be a good rather than a bad thing...go with it, at least some of the time.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

About that suffix 'ling': yes, often pejorative; but, not always.

So, cut other selflings some slack, as they will have to do the same for you to achieve your desires.

Thought Tweet #943 Awe: what an amazing facet of the human condition. We are inspired by Nature. We are inspired by People.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

While discussing 'places' with a friend, the importance of awe came clearly to mind.

Thought Tweet #941 Trust your gut feel...after all, the fast food industry trusts your gut feel.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Sometimes your gut feel gets you into trouble...despite the warning signs from your tightening belt.
