The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Sure, of course, you're not biased and you know full well your ideas are superior!

But don't let that stop you from listening to other people's ideas from time to time. With listening being such a rare commodity, little expressions of attention and interest go a long way.

Egos are nitpickers.

Egos need to be stroked.

Egos don't like unpleasant surprises.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

According to Chip Heath and Dan Heath ['Decisive', 2013] "When the researchers compared whether process or analysis was more important in producing good decisions - those that increased revenues, profits, and market share - they found that "process mattered more than analysis - by a factor of six.""

Good Decision Making relies on good decision-making processes.

Good Influencing relies on good influence-making processes.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

We cannot assume the purpose of our thinking is obvious. We cannot assume the purpose of their thinking is obvious. And, we are far better off over-communicating about the purpose behind out thoughts, ideas, and requests than under-communicating about them.
