Thought Tweet #937 3 Options for Learning: Reading, Observing, & Experiencing.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

R = Reading.

O = Observing.

E = Experiencing.

ROE

Sounds a little fishy but it's the only way we learn.

Self-Centered...and more

by Rick Baker
On Feb 14, 2014

Recently, my friend Ron talked to me about a book he read some time ago that described 3 types of people behaviours: self-centered, team players, and leader/mentors.

As my friend talked, this picture popped into my mind:

And I thought...

Self-Centered: That's the way we all start out...little, selfish, & needy babies.

Then we learn there are other people and, as we grow, we learn how to get along with them.

We become Team Players: the more skilled we and our team-mates are at team play, the more success we experience.

When we experience a large-enough amount of success over a long-enough period of time we possess the ability to lead and mentor other less-experienced and less-skilled people.

Leader/Mentor: when we excel in this area we have reached a pinnacle...an achievement...an ability to help others lead.

When you were a baby you, naturally, knew enough to learn.

by Rick Baker

When you were a baby were you curious, wanting to understand the world around you?

Yes - of course you were a naturally curious baby.

Yes - of course you used your natural senses, you observed, you copied, you tested, you explored, and using those natural processes you learned.

When you were a baby you, naturally, knew enough to learn.

How is that natural gift serving you now?

Thought Tweet #913

Thought Tweet #913 The more you squeeze their heads in the vice the less clearly they think.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

While a little pressure may go a long way, constructive criticism is an oxymoron and excessive criticism is guaranteed to cause headaches.

Thinking about situations... before they happen

by Rick Baker
On Jan 10, 2014

Few, if any, can predict the future.

Many, if not most, think and act like they can influence the future.

What do you think?

Do you think about situations before they happen?

If you do, are they generally pleasant situations or unpleasant situations?

Either way, what's that tell you?

Either way, do you commit to taking certain actions to do what you can to bring the situation about or do what you can to ensure the situation does not happen?

Do you set goals?

If so, when you set goals do you have certain future situations imaged in your mind's eye?

Do you plan your actions?

If so, when you plan your actions do you have certain future situations imaged in your mind's eye?

Do you try to influence people?

If so, when you try to influence people do you have certain future situations imaged in your mind's eye?

If so, do you wonder what future situations those people have imaged in their minds' eyes?

If so, do you ask those people about their minds' eyes pictures?

If not, how likely is it you will bring about the future situations you imagine?

Thought Tweet #903

Thought Tweet #903 Conflicted thoughts have awesome power. Unfortunately, the power does more damage than good.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Confusion: that's a light sampling of conflicted thought.

Torn between 2...that's a heavier sampling.

Confounded: that can be bloody annoying.

Conflicted thoughts are the roots of frustration.

Frustration gets you nowhere & getting nowhere is frustrating: a vicious circle or downward spiral.

At least when we are angry we are more certain about our thoughts. This is why anger is better than frustration.
