Sales Tweet #241

Sales Tweet #241 Ernest’s on a diet. The Boss is enjoying it…“Yoghurt , that’s the only culture Ernest has”.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
The Boss is always picking fun at Ernest. Actually, Ernest is just a bit overweight. He is at that age where everybody recommends an annual physical check-up. So, Ernest visited his doctor, Dr Jekyll. The good doctor helped Ernest understand that being overweight is an expanding problem…that shouldn’t be taken lightly. And he prescribed placebo pills for Ernest: “Here Ernest. Take these pills. Open the bottle every morning and drop the pills on the floor. Bend over and pick them up…one at a time. Put them all back in the bottle. Don’t swallow any. See me in 12 months.”

Sales Tweet #240

Sales Tweet #240 Some say the best way to forget all your troubles is to wear ‘tight shoes’. Ernest says ‘white shoes’.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Yes. A great way to forget all your troubles is to wear white shoes. At least, it works for Ernest Seller. His standard dress code includes plaid jackets, paisley ties, and white shoes. When Ernest Seller thinks “Dress For Success” he doesn’t think of that book. After all, he’s a sales guy not a stuffed shirt.

Sales Tweet #239

Sales Tweet #239 When selling: Don't be redundant. Don’t say more than required or be excessive. Don’t be superfluous.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Some sales people have this habit of talking too much. They go on and on. They provide a plethora of information when that’s not needed. They overkill things. They flog dead horses. They go overboard. They provide a surplus of facts. That’s not the right way to go about selling. That’s the wrong way to go about selling. It doesn’t work. It fails. It won’t get the results you desire. It’s a flawed approach…incorrect…

Sales Tweet #238

by Rick Baker
On Jun 15, 2011
Sales Tweet #238 Ernest Seller visited a fortune teller. The sign on her door said she was vacationing at Palm Beach.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Ernest has always been fascinated by fortune tellers. It is not clear if he believes in them or just enjoys their terrific clothes and offices. But, he seems to take their advice seriously. Needless to say he was really taken when the 6:00 o’clock news carried a story of a daring prison escape. A very tiny fortune-teller had been charged with swindling clients. Sentenced to a prison term, the tiny fortune teller looked into her crystal ball and foretold her escape. And now she had escaped. Ernest was on the edge of his chair when the evening news reported, ‘Small medium at large’.

Sales Tweet #237 LinkedIn is a sales tool - join Groups where your Clients are members…that's a way to prospect.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
The value of LinkedIn is the value it captures around Strong Links [1st Contacts] and Weak Links [2nd and 3rd Contacts]. There is an argument to be made the most value exists around Weak Links. Weak Links such as 2nd and 3rd Contacts under LinkedIn are prospecting territory. More about Weak Links.

Sales Tweet #236

Sales Tweet #236 Ernest Seller shopped for a camouflage outfit for a vacation with his buddies. He couldn’t find one.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Sometimes Ernest misses the forest for the trees. Sometimes he misses the trees for the forest. And, this time he missed the camouflage outfits. But, that shouldn’t be a huge surprise for 2 reasons. The first reason is obvious. The second reason: sometimes Ernest has trouble concentrating on clothes that are not plaid.
