If you can convince yourself you are too busy then you too can make worse decisions.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

1.     It's all in the way you hold your mind.

2.     You do not have to take the time required to make good decisions. It is your prerogative to make lousy decisions and nobody can take that right away from you.

3.     There's probably no better way to make lousy decisions than holding in your mind the thoughts, "I am too busy" and "I don't have time".

4.     If you put your mind to it you will find your mind will warm to the habit of "I am too busy" and "I don't have time". And soon, very soon, you will be able to make really lousy decisions.

So many people think they are too busy when, really, they are too unprepared.

If you want to be a leader in your industry sector, return phone calls and respond to e-mail.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Successful people seem to have more time. Also, with the current trend of slackening business etiquette, returning phone calls and responding to e-mail will be a differential advantage.

Why not take the lead...in a return to common courtesy, improved communication, and real relationships.

People who think they are too busy see interpersonal differences as a problem rather than a blessing.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet

If you think you are too busy and you take the time to compare where you are against where you could be then you may find you need some education on:

  • how to be honest with yourself
  • how to know yourself
  • how to embrace people-differences

When you think you are too busy you set limits on the amount of value you can generate.

I believe successful people have more time. I have written Thought Posts about it. At a conference I was fortunate to join a group of business leaders who presented their thoughts to University of Toronto students…those successful people had the time to do this on a Saturday… 500 students obtained value.

Build confidence & free up time by having a pre-set process for dealing with problems.

Another piece of free up some time advice…

Many people waste a huge amount of time worrying about and even agonizing over problems.

Business life is laced with problems…some small, some not-so-small.

So, it makes sense to have a ready-to-use system for addressing problems.

This provides many benefits…but, here, we will only mention 3:

  • It ensures time is not wasted thinking about how to go about addressing the problem
  • It forces a solution orientation…i.e., positivity trumps worry
  • It builds confidence
