The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Aristotle said, "Hope is a waking dream."

People want hope; people follow dreams.

Regardless, Hope stands in the shadow of the elite state of mind known as Belief. If Hope is a waking dream then Belief is the inspirational call-to-action.

High self-esteem increases one's appetite for risk; appetite stimulates initiative; initiative stimulates action.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

If we work at maintaining high-enough-but-not-excessive self-esteem then we automatically build personal initiative. We also automatically gain more appetite for risk...and comfort with change. That's one little explanation of why it is important to have Thick Skin

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

  1. Failure isn't caused by lack of talent, it's caused by discouraged thoughts and words.
  2. Practice makes perfect.
  3. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.
  4. Strength = Talent + Opportunity + Focused Knowledge + Skill through practice.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Some say, "Forget your mistakes". That's not good advice.

  2. Invest brain-energy learning from mistakes and then celebrate that learning.

Work performances are mirrored in work feelings. Work feelings are windows to Talents & Strengths.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

As a rule, you don't see happy faces when people are struggling with their work.

As a rule, you don't see unhappy faces when people are doing a good job.

When put to good use, personal talents & strengths generate two things: positive body language and quality work results.

Abraham Lincoln

"Every man is proud of what he does well; and no man is proud of what he does not do well. With the former, his heart is in his work; and he will do twice as much of it with less fatigue. The latter performs a little imperfectly, looks at it in disgust, turns from it, and imagines himself exceedingly tired. The little he has done, comes to nothing, for want of finishing."

"Courage begets strength, fear begets weakness. And so courage begets success, fear begets failure."

Ralph Waldo Trine wrote that in 1896. We don't use the word 'begets' too often any more. However, the logic of the old words still rings true. The quote is an illustration of why Spirited Leaders value Courage.
