Thought Tweet #649

On Jan 10, 2013

Thought Tweet #649 One key to business success is freeing up as much time as possible for not-Routine work.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

  1. When we systematize routine work it can be done quicker, with fewer errors. Seeking Simple
  2. When we do routine work quicker we have more time for not-Routine work.
  3. not-Routine work contains the most Value and the only Value that is resistant to commoditization.
  4. So, more time spent on not-Routine work means more time creating value.
  5. And, more time creating Value means higher returns on investment...and more profit.

Thought Tweet #648 Talent without discipline is a hobby-in-waiting.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Malcolm Gladwell [in his book, 'Outliers'] taught us, regardless of Talent, people need to spend at least 10,000 hours to become performing masters. I think - if you are not paid to be a performing master then you are performing a hobby [not work]. I think - if you lack discipline then you won't even be good at hobbying. And, I think - if you are not good at stuff then you do not enjoy it...and that's not a good way to spend your time.

Thought Tweet #647 Creativity is like a good sauce - you have to boil it down before it has the flavour.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

This is about one aspect of Seeking Simple!

Thought Tweet #646 A dust mite, almost invisible to the naked eye, contains about as many atoms as there are stars in the Universe.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

There is much to marvel at...atoms so small and at least one universe so big...and such amazing things in between.

Thought Tweet #645 We can not assume the purpose of our thinking is obvious.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

We can not assume the purpose of our thinking is obvious. We can not assume the purpose of their thinking is obvious. And, we are far better off over-communicating about the purpose behind out thoughts, ideas, and requests than under-communicating about them.

Thought Tweet #644 If you had no problems on your mind, would you think?

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

I have shared thoughts about problems...for example - some motivational experts are confounded by the word 'Problem'.

Here`s another - sometimes our brains find themselves stuck in Problem Ruts. We spend so much time thinking about problems that we forget we can think about other things. Specifically, we spend so much time thinking about viewing problems as opportunities-in-disguise we forget we can think about other things. As a few examples, we can also think about: making the most out of a situation, inventing a new process, and making one small improvement to a specific task.
