Sales Tweet #289 The Boss had a horrible nightmare last night. The Boss was in San Francisco and the earth began to shake.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
In the weird dream, The New Guy was with The Boss like they were friends or something. It was a nightmare! The earth kept shaking and The New Guy kept talking about the fault lines that cause the problem. The New Guy asked The Boss if he had ever seen a fault up close. The Boss confirmed he had not. Then The New Guy handed him a mirror. That's when The Boss woke up in a cold sweat.

Sales Tweet #288 Failing is OK. Figuring out how it happened is better.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
We hear recommendations like, ‘fail often and fail quickly’. The point being: do not expect perfection. Some say, if you succeed 51% of the time then you will ultimately be a winner. Regardless of the statistics on the right balance between successes and failure, there is no question – failing can be very educational. But, you only receive education when you are willing to learn and you take the time to learn.

Sales Tweet #287 At last week’s sales meeting, The Boss had a Freudian slip…

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
The Boss said to Ernest Seller, "Ernest, you just gotta face the facts". What he meant to say was, "Ernest, you just gotta face a firing squad". I guess The Boss is under a lot of stress again.

Sales Tweet #286 Ernest Seller's faithful dog, Commission, had a run in with another dog.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Don't fret...Ernest's Commission wasn't injured in any way. Here's the nutshell version: Ernest and Commission were going for a walk around the neighbourhood and the saw another fellow and his dog coming toward them. The hairs on Commission's sleek back stood on end and Commission began one of those deep growls...like a lion makes in the wild...except not so resonant...and not so loud...and...more dog-like...anyway, Commission growled and Ernest was very surprised. This had never happened before. As the two men and two dogs came together, Commission was near hysteria and the other dog was in a similar state. Ernest told the other fellow he had never seen his dog react to another dog that way before. The other man replied, "Same here. My dog, Discount, is usually very friendly with other dogs".

Sales Tweet #285 Ernest Seller's faithful dog, Commission, is a bit of a rainmaker.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
It all started at obedience school. When Ernest said, "Come Commission", the little dog came. It was as if the dog was gifted and the man-and-his-dog combination was meant to be. It's things like this that cause people to say Ernest Seller leads a charmed life. Since those early days, when Ernest and Commission developed a special relationship, Commission has played in important role in Ernest Seller's life. Obviously, there's much more to this story.

Sales Tweet #284 Sales by Wandering Around…that's one of the ways Ernest Seller prospects

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Some time ago, Management by Wandering Around (or of some similar name) was in vogue. Managers were encouraged to wander around, be accessible, etc. Ernest's approach to prospecting appears to be similar to that. He loves prospecting. While he doesn't go for all that scripted phone or e-mail schmooze...he does have some remarkable success at prospecting. And, his prospecting can be described as 'wandering around'. Wherever he is, whether walking or driving, he is always looking around...he's a curious guy. If he sees something that catches his commission-focused eyes he either drops in to introduce himself and check it out. Or he writes a little note on his notepad for future follow up. He's been known to wander in with a big smile and strut out with a bigger smile. (Sometimes he has his faithful dog "Commission" with him. But, that's another story.)
