The Thinking Behind The Tweet

As the saying goes, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

So, why not plan with methodical risk-management. That's a key to 21st Century success.

Reach out to problems.

Seek simple solutions.

Take decisive actions.

Achieve small goals.

Achieve large goals.

How To Create A Real Scary Sales Monster [a recipe]

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

I created a real scary sales monster.

Really, I am not 100% sure how I did it.

I just know I did it.

Actually, I did it more than once in my career.

I somehow created some high-octane sales beasties that were real scary.

While I don't have the exact recipe I do know the key ingredients and the key process steps:

1.     Take 2 big egos - make sure one is your own and the other junior [junior, in the hierarchical sense or you will not be able to claim credit for the creation of the Sales Monster]

2.     Apply some loud volume.

3.     Blend the big egos together harshly with some lofty goals.

4.     Send the junior ego out to the field under very-tight time deadlines.

5.     Allow a free run for a few days.

6.     Voila - a Sales Monster.

[bon appetit]

The more you squeeze their heads in the vice the less clearly they think.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

While a little pressure may go a long way, constructive criticism is an oxymoron and excessive criticism is guaranteed to cause headaches.

Lack of confidence is evident when people talk too much during good times then talk too little during bad times.

This is especially true when the talk is about credit and blame for results.

...better to aim closer to the Zen, "Is that so".

Many people have a personal relationship with Time: Time serves as their scapegoat.

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

Time is an abstract. People are not. At least, most people are not.

Really, we know Time does not have human qualities.

Really, we know Time cannot march on. Only people and a select group of other animals are able to march.

Really, we know Time cannot wait for anyone. Only people and a select group of other animals are able to wait.

And, really, we know Time is never right or wrong.

Yet, many people are brainwashed. They think and talk about Time possessing human traits.

If we give Time human traits then, just like other people, we can blame it for our shortcomings.

Yes, what a relief! What an escape from responsibility! Time is our scapegoat!

You think about how you act at work. Do you think about how you think at work?

The Thinking Behind The Tweet

While at work...

  • you think
  • you act

While at work...

  • you act without thinking...i.e., your habits kick in and you act in rote ways, with very little or no thought
  • you think then act...relying on your judgment to lead you to better action [i.e., action that takes you toward your desired goals]

While at work...

  • do you think about how you think?
