Sales Tweet #36

Sales Tweet #36 Wow! Labour Day already. I wonder if Ernest Seller has started a plan for meeting his year-end goals.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Now, that was being kind…giving Ernest Seller the benefit of the doubt. Ernest often talks about his great plans about planning. But, really, he never gets around to doing any planning. He says he is always too busy to plan.

Sales Tweet #35

Sales Tweet #35 Today Ernest Seller is wondering if it's OK to wear his favourite white sales shoes after Labour Day.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Ernest Seller. I believe I mentioned Ernest fancies himself to be a fancy dresser. [Yes, that was at Sales Tweet #26] Because he is so fashion conscious, the week before Labour Day is always a distraction for Ernest. He loves shoes. And, he particularly loves his array of white WOW-am-I-dressed-for-sales shoes. But, today he wonders - is it OK to wear them after Labour Day? [Every year he debates this…but he cannot help himself so you can expect to see his lucky white shoes for quite some time.]

Sales Tweet #33

Sales Tweet #33 Ernest Seller is playing the Sales Genie role: asking Probable Clients to lay 3 wishes on him today.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Now – this could be controversial. Ernest Seller thinks asking Probable Clients to tell him what they want takes him closer to getting the sale done. Some of us think he is dead wrong. We agree - asking questions is a tremendous way to obtain information. On the other hand, the questions need to be well-thought-out. When Ernest gets in his Sales Genie mode and offers to grant 3 wishes he regularly gets himself into trouble…the 3 wishes he receives are: lower price, lower price, and lower price. So, with that confirmed, Ernest gets a little carried away and he goes to his boss and asks for 3 price discounts for each Client.

Sales Tweet #29

Sales Tweet #29 Ernest Seller gets no respect. When he attended the Toastmasters' breakfast he got no butter or jam.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
Ernest Seller is a very proud fellow. He must be. He always talks about his success. [We never hear him talk about the sales that got away.] When he joined Toastmasters he did it hoping to find buyers lined up to buy from him. He was astonished when they didn't treat him like the master he is: he got some toast but no butter or jam. Link to learn more about Toastmasters.

Sales Tweet #26

Sales Tweet #26 Ernest Seller thinks It could be a Manic Monday. Those coffee spills. He packed some extra clothes.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet
I guess you could say Ernest Seller is an 'old school' salesman. He fancies himself to be a sharp dresser. Ernest has a full wardrobe of bright plaid sports jackets, flowery ties, and patent leather white shoes. It's his fashion statement and it's his sales statement.

Sales Tweet #24

Sales Tweet #24 Mars is just about aligned for a too-much-talking day. Ernest Seller is planning to bite his tongue.

The Thinking Behind the Sales Tweet:
Talking and listening are closely linked yet separate things. It is really difficult to do both at once. We all know that yet what we know and what we do are often conflicted. So, recognizing almost everyone thinks sales people should be better listeners it naturally follows that sales people should talk less. Ernest Seller talks way too much. He is the sort of person who needs graphic reminders to help him keep himself in line. So, to stop talking he bites his tongue...literally. He has found his slightly injured tongue doesn't talk much for about 30 minutes.
